Date Syrup or Date Paste

The best sweeteners have their original fiber intact! Date syrup can turn into so many glorious things and can be used as a better sweetener in many recipes.

We made this in our Weekly Cooking Class!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Medjool dates

  • 1 cup water + water for soaking

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla (optional)

Instructions

  1. Soak pitted and destemmed dates in enough water to cover well for at least an hour. If dates are very dry or hard, consider using warm water.

  2. Drain dates and blend with water and optional other flavors until very smooth.

  3. Add more water a tablespoon at a time if you would like a thinner syrup.

  4. Store in a sealed container in the fridge and use it as you would other kinds of syrup.
